Chris Flanagan is an installation artist and  documentary filmmaker based in Toronto, Canada . He makes work about music, magic and obsessive subcultures. He studied fine art at the University of South Australia and has exhibited in public galleries across Australia and Canada for the last 15 years. His feature documentary Shella Record A Reggae Mystery premiered at Hot Docs in 2019 (Top 10 audience choice awards) and has screened in festivals around the world, aired on television in Jamaica (TVJ) and regularly airs on CBC Doc Channel  

He is co-directing a series of short films about Canadian reggae icons  with collaborator Graeme Mathieson, produced by the National Film Board of Canada.  Their  film “Ruff and Tuff, Stranger Cole’s Toronto Roots” ...premiered at Hot Docs 2018.  He also runs Shella Records, a record label dedicated to showcasing vintage reggae recordings in partnership with the original artists.
